Assesment 22/01/12

www:
  • Great to see that you have made 3 good attempts at working on the 3 posts we wanted you to have completed Ben
  • Your written explanation is carefully considered and shows some care and attention to responding appropriately to the question
  • You have tried to make 2 of your posts visual by using Wordle
ebi:
  • To improve, you need to carefully check your use of capital letters for the beginning of sentences, and your use of basic punctuation such as question marks for questions. Please check this carefully Ben, especially with the titles of your Evaluation posts - as they are all questions.
  • Your post on the representation of social groups uses Wordle to make it visual - there are many other more imaginative ways you could make this posts super visual Ben. You could include images of various 'types' of people and social groups you intend to feature in your opening sequence - and then discuss how you would construct these various representations through choices in clothing / costumes / facial expressions, make up, hair, etc. You metion that your film is going to portray a 'weak female' - so how do you intend on constructing her so that viewer understand instantly that she is weak and vulnerable? How will viewers respond to her? If she appears too weak, then they might think she is too pathetic and hopeless to ever care about what happens to you. If this is the case, you lose the sense of 'thrill' for viewers, because they will not care if she survives or not...On the other hand, if there is something about her that viewer really connect with and really like (even though she is weak and vulnerable), then they will care about what happens to her. They will want to watch the entire film to make sure she survives. Perhaps she is a mother with young children (the viewers will care more about her survival then...) Think carefully about this...
  • Try and move on from Wordle Ben, as you have used it for 2 out of the 3 posts so far in your evaluation, and to be honest, it's not a very exciting or creative way of presenting your ideas. One use of wordle is fine, with additonal images, etc.
  • For your post on technologies, I would suggest that you come in one lunch or in a free to create a JING presentation where you are talking through all the different technologies you use in day to day media use. You have good notes from the lesson with Ms Fenner here, but this needs visuals and more development.
Effort: GD (good, with some improvement needed)
